A rare mahogany tavern clock of small size. By their very nature tavern clocks were designed to be large and 'public'; so it is hardly surprising that small, or miniature tavern clocks are extremely rare to find. This example has heart-melting hour glass proportions with a lock-and-peg trunk door and the original glazed brass bezel to the signed silvered dial. The movement has anchor escapement, typical large pinions and an oval brass-cased weight.
