A pretty regency rosewood, ebony and brass-inlaid small gothic mantel timepiece. CASE The gabled top flanked by rosewood spire finials embellished with triangles of ebony inlaid with scalloped brass decoration. The finials out-set on ebony cluster columns flanking the dial with a gothic arched door with acorn finial. The sides with gable-arched glazed apertures within gilt-brass frames. The base with ebony ripple mouldings raised on double bun feet DIAL Gothic arched gilt-brass dial with linear engine turning, black painted Roman chapter ring with dot minute markers and signed PAYNE 163 NEW BOND ST just beneath chapter XII. Blued steel quatrefoil pierced hour and minute hands, the centre with concentric engine turning. MOVEMENT The movement with four cylindrical pillars, chain fusee and spring barrel, anchor escapement, the brass pendulum with holdfast to the backplate above a further signature engraved Payne 163 New Bond Street.
