A very rare mahogany eight-day marine chronometer. The dial signed Arnold London with up-and-down sector calibrated 1-7, seconds ring numbered 302, bayonet-fixed brass bezel with domed glass; the movement signed John R Arnold London Strand Inv.t et Fecit No. 302 with cut bimetallic OZ balance and Arnold’s spring detent escapement cut into the top plate. Original brass counter-weighted bowl, later gimbal and associated baize-lined three-tier mahogany box.
