A very fine mahogany two-day marine chronometer with Dent’s staple balance, with fully signed silvered dial. The movement with spotted circular brass plates, reversed fusee, Dent’s blued staple balance with Earnshaw-type spring detent with jewelled locking stone, brass bowl punch-numbered 339, fine quality three tier box with signed enamel plaque. Vaudrey Mercer notes that No. 49339 was finished in 1897, the movement was by Preston, the escapement by W. King and the staple balance by Leonard.
