A magnificent and exceptional quality turtleshell and gilt-metal mounted striking table clock, made for a Spanish client. The Continental-style English-made case has stunning top-quality mounts and a wonderful handle comprising addorsed caryatids. The 7 ¼ inch dial has an elaborate signature plaque and mock pendulum and calendar apertures. The exceptional movement has a beautifully signed and engraved 'key-plate' with verge escapement and 'forked' pendulum holdfast mechanism between the key-plate and the true backplate.
