A very pretty gilt-brass 8-day circular desk timepiece with original black leather and blue velvet-lined travelling case. CASE The case circular case has fine deep mouldings with a folding strut to the back and also a sliding suspension ‘hook’ at the top of the case. The rear cover has a slide portal to view the escapement and adjust the timekeeping and folding brass winding piece. The base of the back cover is stamped 544. DIAL The nicely silvered dial is signed HUNT & ROSKELL LONDON and has Roman chapters with the original delicate blued steel hands; the centre is beautifully engraved with delicate scrolling foliage centred by a shall and a mask and flanked by two creatures’ heads. MOVEMENT The movement has rectangular brass plates with a rounded base, going barrel, wheel train and lever escapement with gold balance wheel; the backplate is signed HUNT & ROSKELL LONDON by the hand The clock comes with the original black leather and navy blue velvet-lined travelling case.
