A fine mahogany striking bracket clock in the style of John Ellicott. CASE The brass-bound case has an inverted bell top surmounted by a brass handle. Original trellis-pierced brass sound frets in the sides, the moulded base rests on brass bracket feet. BRACKET The well proportioned purpose-made brass-bound wall bracket has a forward-sliding key compartment. DIAL The square silvered dial has two subsidiary rings for pendulum regulation and strike/silent, both with blued steel hands. The main dial has Roman and Arabic chapters and the original blued steel hands. The centre is signed William Addis London, further mock pendulum and calendar apertures. MOVEMENT The good quality movement has five pillars, twin fusees and spring barrels with wire lines, verge escapement- the pendulum suspended from a brass regulation arm. The hours struck on a bell above the plates. The backplate is charmingly engraved with foliage around a central basket of fruit and with pendulum holdfast.
