A handsome white marble, ormolu and jasperware mounted mantel timepiece. CASE The ormolu mounted white marble drum case is supported on either side by curved fluted sections with volutes and mounted to the front with ormolu scrolling foliage. The rectangular stepped marble fluted plinth applied with a Wedgwood jasperware plaque and three chased ormolu panels, the drum surmounted by an ormolu urn. The step to the plinth is also mounted with ormolu beading. DIAL The white enamel dial with gilt dot minute divisions and gilt Roman hour numerals is framed by an ormolu beaded bolection bezel. The winding square is above VI and the pendulum regulation square through XII. The ormolu hands are pierced and engraved. MOVEMENT The circular movement has brass plates with four pillars, fusee and spring barrel. The half deadbeat escapement has a steel rod pendulum with a large brass bob stamped 326. The backplate is signed Vulliamy London No. 326 and is fixed to the case with two brass brackets. The shallow domed, circular brass back door has locating pins and a wing nut latch. 12¼ inches high, 8½ inches wide, 3½ inches deep Provenance; Stated in the surviving Vulliamy workshop records Delivered 11th July 1806 to Dan.
