Circa 1817
Sold
14 ½ inches high
A fine mahogany dial clock. The 12 inch diameter dial has the original cream painted surface together with the original pierced brass hands. The movement has a single fusee, anchor escapement and the front plate is stamped 5919 which corresponds to Thwaites's records to a date of 1817. Thomas Lowther was a casemaker working in Red Lion St. in Clerkenwell; his unusual case-stamp has also been discovered on the cases of top-quality regulators.
