A rare mahogany striking drop dial wall clock. CASE The boxwood and ebony-lined case has two doors to the sides each set with silk-backed pierced mahogany sound frets, two well-proportioned carved ears flank beneath the dial and the convex moulded pendulum box has a boxwood-lined door to the front and a raised linear moulding above of boxwood and ebony. DIAL The 14-inch cream-pained wood dial has a large moulded brass bezel set with a convex glass, the dial is signed RICHMOND CHELMSFORD in the centre with the two winding holes – each with brass ferrules. The Roman chapters have an outer concentric minute track and the spade hands are of delicate blued steel type. MOVEMENT The two train twin fusee movement has five baluster pillars, the going train has anchor escapement and the strike train strikes the hours on a bell above the plates.
