A rare brass-inlaid striking drop dial wall clock. CASE The brass and ebony-inlaid case has two doors to the sides each set with silk-backed pierced wood sound frets, two carved ears flank beneath the dial and the convex moulded pendulum box has brass-inlaid panels with floret corners and is centred by a drop door with brass escutcheon. DIAL The 12-inch cream-pained dial has a moulded brass bezel set with a convex glass, the dial is signed Dwerrihouse Ogston & Bell DAVIES STREET in the centre with the two winding holes, the Roman chapters have an outer concentric minute track and the blued steel hands are of crossed Breguet form. MOVEMENT The two train twin fusee movement has five baluster pillars, the going train has anchor escapement and the strike train strikes the hours on a bell above the plates.
