Edward John Dent (1790-1753) did much to influence the course of precision horology in the 19th century, he specialised in many fields including marine & pocket chronometers and table and wall regulators, all of the highest quality. The company made their very highest quality regulators for observatories around the world including Turin, Geneva and Venice, to name but a few. They constructed the world-famous clock at Westminster otherwise known as Big Ben and they also produced a small number of very high quality precision clocks for domestic use as in the present example for sale here. This particular clock has a beautifully constructed solid mahogany case of the very highest quality, the movement has Dents high-quality deadbeat escapement on the backplate and it even retains the original pendulum, weight, pulley and winding key it is the complete precision package.
