A mahogany 2-day marine chronometer No 2/729. Dial The silvered dial is signed Barrauds & Lund Cornhill London 2/729 with outer Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds ring, cut-out window for the state of wind, delicate blued steel hands. Movement The movement has a chain fusee and spring barrel, maintaining power to the fusee with brass winding guard, four ringed movement pillars with blued steel screws, Earnshaw-type spring detent escapement with jewelled passing stone, large diameter bimetallic Pennington-type balance with numerous timing screws, with blued steel helical balance spring. Box The brass-bound mahogany 3-tier box has drop handles to the sides, brass bowl and gimbals and early brass tipsy winding key.
