A fine solid mahogany, ebony and brass-inlaid striking table clock. CASE The case has a stepped and chamfered top with an ebony ripple moulding to the frieze below. The sides are inset with brass recessed campaign handles and fish scale sound frets, the brass inlaid front door has brass chamfered angles and a brass-inlaid panel to the base which rests on adjustable milled brass bun feet. DIAL The 7inch silvered brass dial is signed James McCabe Royal Exchange London 2858 within the Roman chapter ring with blued steel hands and with a strike/ silent ring to the arch. MOVEMENT The substantial brass twin fusee movement has five brass pillars and is further punch-numbered 2858 on the base of the backplate. The anchor escapement has the original brass-rod pendulum with locking nut; the hours are struck on a rack striking system on a bell above the plates. The backplate is further signed James McCabe Royal Exchange London 2858.
