A very fine carved mahogany month-going wall regulator. CASE The movement and pendulum are suspended from a green-painted solid iron block secured to the solid mahogany backboard, which has a breakarched top. The long mahogany detachable case cover is finely carved on the top moulding with palmette foliage and with delicate anthemion curls in the top corners acting as capitals for slender columns running down the sides of the front terminating with fleur de lys motifs, the base and bracket are further elaborately carved with flower heads – the centre is incised with a key-hole to lock the case cover. DIAL The finely engraved silvered regulator dial has delicate hands of blued steel and is signed DENT CLOCKMAKER TO THE KING 28 COCKSPUR ST. & 4 ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON 61257 MOVEMENT The substantial movement has stoned plates with chamfered shoulders conjoined by four slightly tapering cylindrical pillars secured with blued steel screws to front and back plates. High-count train with delicate wheels having five crossings and maintaining power. The deadbeat escapement is mounted on the backplate; it has jewelled pallets and a two-piece crutch with fine adjustment, the steel rod pendulum has a cylindrical zinc bob and steel pointer swinging against a silvered calibrated beat scale on the panelled backboard.
