A handsome mahogany striking table clock with repeat. Case The mahogany veneered case has four pineapple finials at the bell top surmounted by a brass handle, glazed sides, gilt-brass quarter frets to the front door with urn-shaped escutcheon, the mounded base raised on brass bracket feet. Dial The break arch dial is signed Edwd. Smith Richmond in a silvered reserve in the matted centre with calendar aperture, blued steel hands, rococo spandrels to the corners and strike/silent ring in the arch. Movement The five pillar twin fusee movement has gut lines, strike and trip repeat on a bell, the going train has knife-edge verge escapement and bob pendulum, the backplate is engraved with scrolling foliage centred by an urn, similarly engraved movement securing brackets to the case.
