A very fine solid rosewood mantel timepiece with platform lever escapement Case With a carved rosewood cornice around the stepped top which is inset with a bevelled escapement viewing glass, glazed sides, solid rosewood rear door, the whole case resting on adjustable brass bun feet. Dial Signed Chas. Frodsham & Co. To The Queen, 84 Strand London 1458 on an enamel dial with blued steel hands and Roman numerals all within a gilt mask elaborately engraved with delicate flower heads and scrolling foliage. Movement Of eight-day duration with four vase-shaped pillars, chain-fusee with maintaining power and spring barrel, high quality jewelled platform lever escapement with cut bimetallic compensated balance.
