A rare and handsome mahogany striking drop dial wall clock with trip repeat. CASE Well-figured mahogany case of excellent proportions with drop door to the base, flanked by carved ears and hinged doors to both sides of the trunk, turned mahogany bezel DIAL The 14 inch convex wood dial has a cast brass bezel, original cream painted ground and signed Tupman Chas. Street, Grosvenor Squ. With blued steel spade hands. MOVEMENT The twin fusee striking movement has shouldered brass plates, anchor escapement with steel-rod pendulum with brass-faced bob, hour rack strike on a bell with rare trip repeat facility Provenance Sold by Strike One Islington, June 1992 (with invoice for £5,000) George Tupman began his business in 1790 in Vigo Street just off Piccadilly and then moved to this address in Charles Street, Mayfair from 1806 to 1828
