Robert Pennington, London

Circa 1790

Sold

15½ inches high

A most unusual mahogany table clock by this famous precision clock specialist. The well figured case has the original frets and feet whilst the handsome dial is beautifully signed and retains the original hands. The twin fusee movement has extra-thick plates, half deadbeat escapement and a repeat signature to the backplate. We believe it is the only known spring clock by Robert Pennington Snr. who helped Thomas Mudge make his famous Green & Blue chronometers and was one of the great pivotal clockmakers of the late 18th century.
