A very rare ebony striking table clock of phase III type. The case is surmounted by the original foliate-tied handle flanked by four vase-shaped finials and applied with fine quality gilt-brass foliate mounts. The 6½ inch square dial is signed John Knibb Oxon Fecit, the centre is beautifully matted and the lovely blued steel hands are original. The fully latched movement has vase-shaped pillars, countwheel strike and beautifully engraved backplate signed Johannes Knibb Oxoniae Fecit.
