An exceptional walnut month-going longcase clock. The well preserved case retains not only the original caddy top but also the orignal plinth base. The hood door has the rare added refinement of a brass moulding neatly framing the 11 inch dial which is signed Dan:Quare London on the silvered chapter ring. The fine quality movement has 6 ring-turned pillars, thick brass plates, anchor escapement and rack strike on a bell above the plates. Quare also used the same handsome brass dial moulding to great effect on his famous year-going longcase clock in the British Museum
